PLANNING ROUND-UP: Plans to change the use of a town centre warehouse into a shisha bar and restaurant have been approved by the council.

An application was re-submitted to change the use of the first floor of the former MC Mills and Co warehouse on Lower Castlereagh Street into the shisha bar in November. These plans were given the green light by Barnsley Council’s planning board last week.

PLANNING permission is being sought to build ten new houses in Darfield. If approved, the properties will be built on Doncaster Road. A total of 20 neighbouring properties have been made aware of the plans with no appeals to date.Public consultation ends on April 8.

PLANS to change the use of a Wombwell house into an assisted living provision have been submitted to the council. If approved, up to six new jobs could be created at the facility on Marsh Street. A WOMBWELL pub is set to undergo a host of works after planning permission was granted by Barnsley Council. An application was submitted in November to extend The Butcher’s Arms, on High Street, and convert the first floor to residential accommodation. A month-long consultation exercise took place before the planning board approved the plans last week.

PLANS to convert a barn into a new property in Silkstone have been approved by the council. An application was submitted in January for work to take place at The Granary on Barnsley Road. These plans were approved by Barnsley Council’s planning board last week.

PLANS to convert a Cundy Cross building to form an additional self-contained retail unit have been approved by the council. Barnsley Plumbing Centre, based on Rotherham Road, submitted a planning application in January for work to take place at their site. The plans were approved by Barnsley Council’s planning board last week.

PLANS to add a number of extensions to a Worsbrough bungalow have been approved by the council. Work can now take place on Kingwell Road after plans were originally submitted in December. The application was approved by the council’s planning board last week.

PLANS to convert a former commercial garage in Worsbrough Dale into a new property have been submitted to the council’s planning board. If approved, work will be undertaken on Station Road. Two neighbouring properties have been made aware of the plans with no appeals to date. Public consultation ends on April 5.

PLANNING permission is being sought to replace a 15-metre-high telecommunications mast in Birdwell with an even larger one. If approved, a 22.5-metre-high mast, alongside six antennas and three cabinets will be built off Sheffield Road. The public can have their say on the plans until April 2.
